When Chablé Yucatán’s Kids Club opens in 2023, little ones will discover a myriad of adventures to excite and delight them. A fun rotation of indoor and outdoor activities will highlight local mythology, nature and ecosystems, activity and movement, and creative expression.

Designed by Mexican architect José Lombana, the Kids Club’s geometric design draws inspiration from the Mayans’ depictions of K’uk’ulkaan, a plumed serpent found in their mythology. Realizing the Kids Club would rest upon slanted terrain, Lombana envisioned interconnected cylinders that would intrigue children and encourage them to spend time outside.

Whether children are drawn to the arts, science and nature or the simplicity of pure fun, the Kids Club will be an unforgettable element of their stay at Chablé Yucatán. Workshops will help little hands, hearts and minds explore things like pottery, astronomy, food and drama. Budding history buffs will be enthralled by learning about the Mayan culture and legacy that permeate the resort.

At our palapa, Casita Maya, local cooks will welcome you as warmly as if you were visiting their home kitchen. Most of the ingredients used here come from the orchards and gardens on property – you won’t find their exact nuances anywhere else.

A single bean holds the promise of a thousand flavors. Witness the inherent magic of transforming a cacao bean into chocolate, and understand why the Aztecs considered “xocolātl” a sacred gift from Quetzalcóatl, the god of wisdom. Learn the ancestral techniques that turn fresh cacao beans into chocolate, and you will gain a new appreciation for this powerful, popular ingredient.

Meliponarium

Meet our Melipona bees, and fear not, for they are stingless. This fascinating endangered species is endemic to the Yucatán Peninsula, and has long been regarded in Mayan culture as sacred. Prior to collecting the honey of these hardworking, loyal bees, a local shaman conducts a special ceremony to honor and respect the bees’ presence and precious value. Melipona honey is medicinal – pure healing, by Nature herself.

These natural pits or sinkholes possess cool, clear groundwater – and, some believe, healing properties. Cenotes are unique to the Yucatán Península. Consider this your opportunity to experience one of nature’s miracles firsthand with a visit or diving experience.

UNESCO World Heritage Site Chichén Itzá draws thousands of visitors to witness its extraordinary construction, precision and foresight – a mesmerizing example of the ingenuity of the Mayan-Toltec civilization. The archaeological site of Uxmal, however, is exceptionally interesting and far less touristed, its ceremonial ruins depicting the pinnacle – and, in some ways, the human struggles and triumphs – of ancient Mayan civilization.

The Celestún River, a reserve located at the mouth of the largest groundwater basin in Yucatán, is situated in the same area as the perhaps more well-known ring of cenotes and Río Lagartos. Sublime natural beauty abounds here, in the best-preserve coastal wetland corridor of the Península’s westernmost reaches.
